Silent Hill HD Patch Released for PS3, Cancelled for Xbox 360

SilentHillHD

If you’re a Silent Hill fan, you’ve no doubt encountered the plethora of problems with the recent HD collection. Konami promised to release a patch to fix both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions and that patch was finally released—for PS3 users at least. Xbox 360 users, on the other hand, got the shaft as Konami has cancelled the patch due to “technical issues and resources” and has no plans to do any further work on it. According to Joystiq, Konami has no plans to offer refunds for consumers who purchased the collection on the 360 nor do they have any plans to pull the game from shelves.

I can understand delaying a patch because of technical issues, but to outright cancel it, refuse refunds and not pull product from shelves? That’s just wrong…

PlayStation 3 Online Patch Deployed. XBOX 360 Patch No Longer Scheduled for Release

Today, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced that while a PlayStation®3 online title update for Silent Hill HD Collection has been deployed for download via PlayStation®Network, plans for an XBOX®360 title update have been cancelled due to technical issues and resources.

Understanding the issues some users are experiencing, KONAMI issued a title update for Silent Hill HD Collection (PS3), which fixed frame rate issues as well as audio-synching and other reported issues. KONAMI apologizes to any players who are continuing to experience these issues on the XBOX 360 sku.

Silent Hill HD Collection is available at retail stores nationwide.
