How’s your day going, TimeSplitters fans? Good? Well you may want to look away from the rest of this article, lest you spontaneously combust. Ready? Okay, here it goes.
In a recent interview with VG247, Crytek’s CEO Cevat Yerli stated that interest in a new game in the TimeSplitters franchise isn’t currently high enough to warrant a new title. Apparently, Yerli did some informal research on his personal blog and found that the series just doesn’t quite have that CoD buzz yet. Regarding the response he mentioned that “the volume of responses was quite high, we feel it’s not high enough yet.”
However there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. In a weird bout of almost self-contradicting clarity, he also stated “That being said, it did indeed trigger a deeper evaluation of what we do with Timesplitters, and I can only say this for now; we might have some surprises coming soon.” So now we’re left to wonder about these “surprises”. I mean it couldn’t be a game announcement, right? He wouldn’t contradict himself that badly so quickly after saying something.
Oh well, I for one am looking forward to the new TimeSplitters Facebook game.
