If you’ve seen the gameplay for PlayStation All Stars, then you’ve no doubt noticed the similarities between it and the Super Smash Bros. franchise. While it has gotten its fair share of criticism for these similarities, many people have been able to shrug it off and accept that it could be a fun game. That is unless you’re Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games.
The famed developer recently took to Twitter to call All Stars an immoral ripoff. “”No. I don’t like that game. It’s just a rip-off … I don’t like rip-off, that’s all.”
While it certainly is a rip off, I think Kamiya-san is overstepping a little bit. Let’s face it, we’re in an industry that basically thrives off of unoriginal ideas. However, this doesn’t stop many of these games from being fun. We’ll just have to wait and see when All Stars is released for the PlayStation 3 on October 23rd.
