Adriasang’s latest news from the land of the rising number of awesome vending machines reveals that Square Enix plans to update the upcoming MMORPG Dragon Quest X for ten years, with updates every ten weeks. While it was already known that the game would be updated every ten weeks with story quests, it’s surprising to hear that Square Enix has such long term plans for a Wii and Wii U MMORPG.
Just to put this into some perspective, this is the first MMO entry to a legendary JRPG series whose biggest market is Japan, for a console that sold well but doesn’t have a large online playerbase, for another console that is unreleased and unproven, by a company whose last MMORPG was so broken that they pulled it back and have been essentially remaking it for years, and they’re hoping to make it last longer than World of Warcraft.
This will be interesting.
