Hideki Kamiya is kind of like my hero. He does what he wants, when he wants, and an awesome game is always the result. Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and of course, Bayonetta, were all fantastic games, and as strange as it looks, I’m sure Project P-100 for the Wii U will also be pretty great thanks to Kamiya’s involvement. The one thing people want most out of him, however, is Bayonetta 2, but it doesn’t seem like that will be happening any time soon.
In an interview with Famitsu, Kamiya revealed he’d rather make Viewtiful Joe 3 before getting to work on a sequel to Bayonetta. He does, however, talk about Bayonetta sequels or spin-offs with Bayonetta’s producer, Atsushi Inaba, over drinks. The reality, unfortunately, is that Kamiya doesn’t actually own the rights to Viewtiful Joe or Bayonetta – they belong to Capcom and Sega respectively – and thus has no real say in whether or not sequels will get made. The best we can realistically hope for is that the publishers will decide to greenlight those sequels and call in Kamiya to direct them.
