Have zombie fatigue yet? Too bad, because Hammerpoint Interactive have recently announced they’re making The War Z.
The game will consist of fighting off zombies and other survivors in an open world, all while you advance your character with the game’s RPG-like progression system. Of course, you’ll have to help and receive help from other players if you want to truly want to get ahead. The War Z will also include a hardcore mode, where when you die, that’s it. You’re done forever. Sounds familiar, eh?
Of course, the developers wouldn’t want you to think they’re copying DayZ. Sergey Titov, the game’s executive producer mentioned that, “While we began developing our game before DayZ, we’ve been encouraged by fact that DayZ has become so popular. And, yes, of course some of our latest design decisions were influenced by the DayZ community forums.”
The questions is: with DayZ already a thing that exists, how many people will actually choose The War Z over the already established competition? Hammerpoint is going to really need to step it up in the innovation department in order to grab a niche of its own.
