+

Harmonix has announced that Rock Band Blitz, its latest installment in the popular Rock Band series, will be released on August 28th on the PlayStation Network and August 29th on Xbox Live for $15 and 1200 Microsoft Points respectively.

Four more songs have already been added to the stellar, 20 plus song library Blitz will ship with. So Far Away by Avenged Sevenfold, We Are Young by Fun ft. Janelle Monae, Jungle Boogie by Kool & The Gang, and Sing By My Chemical Romance will now be included.

Blitz hopes to take the franchise in a fresh new direction with fast, addictive, controller-based game play. It will also boasts the largest music library in gaming with full compatibility with the thousands of songs available in the Rock Band music store. Tracks can also be exported to Blitz from the other games in the Rock Band series.

To expand the Rock Band experience even further, all the songs Blitz ships with will also be compatible and playable in Rock Band 3. So even though Blitz’s focus is controller-based gameplay, players can still use their instrument peripherals to experience all the new tracks.

Harmonix has also released a new video detailing Rock Band Blitz’s crazy new power-ups. Director Matthew Nordhaus takes the time to explain the Bottle Rocket, Blast Note, Flame Note, and Synchrony.
