Visceral Games Has 20 Minutes of Dead Space 3 Footage For You

Dead Space 3’s Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis walks us through a 20 minute clip of nothing but pure gameplay footage from the start of the upcoming Dead Space 3, apparently to stave off the many perceptions that Dead Space 3 is not living up to the series’ standard of horror. And to show off his weird obsession with gigantic drills, chunks of flesh and PR-speak adjectives.

If the responses to it are any indication, it’s not doing so well. Perhaps it has something to do with a remarkably unlikeable co-op partner or the fact that every piece of ammo literally is labeled “Universal Ammo”, or that the enemies seem to be bigger bullet sponges than ever before.

Worst of all is that what’s shown is completely devoid of any horror. Everything is bright, open, flashy, and human enemies are the absolute bane of horror when it’s already been established that there are unknown alien horrors that twist people into nightmares.

It’s a bit too early to write the game off, of course, but these twenty minutes are really doing a bad job of dispelling the already negative perceptions surrounding the game. Check out the video after the break. The comments alone are worth it.
