Good news, Australians! Since Michael Atkinson stepped down as the South Australian Attorney general back in 2010, your government finally thinks you’re able to make adult decisions by yourself. They’ve finally passed a video game rating for adults over the age of 18.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the plight of the Australian gamer, the country has, until now, lacked a rating for video games more “adult” than what you’d see in a hard T-rated game here in the states. This lead to games having to be toned down, or face not being able to see release in the land down under. Games like Left 4 Dead 2 sacrificed their blood and gore for an Australian release, and specimens like Mortal Kombat never saw the light of the outback sun.
Of course, this is for all games going forward. Should you want to play games that have already been denied entry, you’re going to have to take that up with their publishers. Hell, if they don’t comply you could always send them one of those horrifyingly venomous spiders you guys have lying around.
