Rumor Mongering: Is Microsoft Revealing a Tablet Today?

Everyone don your tin foil hats, it’s rumor time! So, Microsoft is holding a mystery press conference today – that much we know for sure. What we don’t know is exactly what this press conference will entail. TechCrunch, however, relying on sources with “knowledge of the situation”, claimed the press conference would reveal a partnership between Microsoft and Barnes & Noble to produce a tablet/e-reader of their own. That notion has since been debunked, as a Barns & Noble spokesperson has come forward to say they’re not a part of this.

Still, all signs are pointing to the imminent reveal of a Microsoft branded tablet device. With the reveal of SmartGlass at their E3 press conference this year, it would make plenty of sense for the big MS to release their own tablet, optimized for use with the Xbox. The conference is set to begin at 3:30pm Pacific/6:30pm Eastern, so stay tuned for an update later today.
