Need another reason to lose faith in TV? This should do: CBS has won a bidding war for the pilot of a Draw Something game show. Draw Something is a Zynga game that most people play on assorted hand-held devices to draw penises for their friends and strangers. Really, it’s like a high-tech version of Pictionary. It’s also the game that caused controversy when Zynga bought out OMGPOP, the company that originally created the game.
Sony Pictures Television, Ryan Seacrest Productions, and Embassy Row are producing the show, though they have denied to comment on CBS’ acquisition. According to Variety:
Teams of celebrities and everyday users will test their skills in front of a studio audience to earn money and big laughs. Viewers can also play along at home for a chance to win prizes and compete with the celebrities.
Despite Zynga’s stocks taking a hit, they’re still trying to plow into every market they can get their hands on, including home consoles and children’s board games/toys. Don’t expect to see them on TV just yet (although they’ve partnered with TV show Great Escapes for some delicious product integration), as CBS already has its fall line-up set.
