Activision’s Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg has confirmed his company will be fully supporting the Wii U in the near future.
In an interview with GI.Biz, Hirshberg seemed optimistic for their upcoming involvement with Nintendo.
“We take our time to get our ducks in a row before pulling any trigger,” he said. “We don’t have any announcements today but we will be supporting the Wii U.”
Hirshberg is definitely hopeful for the opportunities Nintendo’s new hardware will present for the first person shooter genre.
“They announced a pro controller, which appears to be a controller that would be really good for first person shooter games,” he said. “So that’s an interesting development and then they have that touch display device and you think about the kinds of things you might be able to do and – without getting into specifics – I absolutely have given it consideration and thought.”
There have not been any Activision games announced for the launch of the Wii U, but the more powerful platform opens many doors to developers that were previously closed with the original Wii.
