Back in April, Nintendo had Pokémon fans atwitter when they announced that Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition would be heading stateside. Now titled Pokémon Conquest, the game has been given the full E3 treatment, including a new trailer.
Taking place in the Ransei region and replacing trainers with Warriors, Conquest shakes up the traditional Pokémon formula. Instead of the normal battles fans have become accustomed to, Conquest’s battles take place on an isometric overhead map (akin to Final Fantasy Tactics or Advance Wars), with teams of up to 6 Pokémon-Warrior combos battling in turn-based strategy fashion.
The game also puts focus on the bond between Warrior and Pokémon, giving players the chance to form a “perfect link” with a select few Pokémon. The greater the bond, the stronger both Pokémon and Warrior become, increasing stats and abilities.
Pokémon Conquest is set for a June 18, 2012 release on the Nintendo DS and will include local wireless multiplayer. You can check out the trailer after the jump.
