With Ninendo’s E3 conference at an end, lets look at back at some of their bigger titles. Like Reggie said, it wouldn’t be a Nintendo launch without its core mascot, Mario, at the head. For that reason, Nintendo announced that New Super Mario Bros. U will be launching close to the console’s release.
One of the first things you’ll notice, of course, are the game’s visual style. It still feels like classic Mario, but the console’s HD capabilities are really being shown here as everything looks very crisp.
However, Mario has always been known for good unadulterated platforming and Mario U, they seriously need to change that name, looks like it won’t disappoint. Not only does it feature various new powers like balloon Yoshi and a floaty cape power. One of the Wii U’s big selling points so far is its tablet controller and this will be used in some unique ways. A player can use the tablet to use the boost mode which allows them to create blocks for players to jump and other helpful abilities. While Nintendo intended this for people to help each other, I’m sure it will turn into a giant “screw over your friends” like Mario Wii eventually turned into.
Finally, as last year told us, you’ll be able to switch from playing on the TV to the tablet with what I’m assuming will be the slide of a finger.
