The biggest video game legal case of the year has ended prematurely as Activision and the former Infinity Ward heads and employees reached an agreement yesterday – one day before the trial was scheduled to begin. The terms of the settlement are strictly confidential but Polygon reports that Jason West was beaming as he left so it looks like someone got paid.
The rather anticlimactic end to the high profile case comes after months of back and forth accusations, terrible James Bond villainry, suing companies that weren’t even involved, and probably lots of shouting.
Both sides’ attorneys locked themselves in a room all day yesterday hammering out the details of the settlement and it seems, with Jason West’s big ol’ smile, that West and Zampella sure had one hell of a good case against their former bosses. It was probably the revelation that they were trying to fire them months before that did it.
