If the agonizing screams of fellow writer Ryan weren’t enough to tell you, Funcom has just announced a slight delay for their upcoming action MMO, Secret World. The game will now be releasing on July 3rd, a few weeks after its previous date of June 19th.
To make up for this though, Funcom will be having two more beta weekends starting on June 15th and June 22nd. During the June 15th weekend, the Templar and Illuminati starting areas will open up and you will have access to one of the game’s dungeons entitled “Hell Raised.” The June 22nd beta will focus on PVP which will include “massive warzone gameplay where over a hundred players clash together in persistent battle.” This sounds like the Alterac Valley battles in vanilla WoW that could last for days.
Funcom explained that the delay was for marketing reasons and to give the game a better launch window. “Funcom today announced that the company has made a small adjustment to the release date for The Secret World. Due to market reasons, the ship date has been moved by two weeks to July 3rd, with Early Access starting June 29th. The new launch date places The Secret World in a more positive launch window which will benefit the launch of the game.”
