Peter Molyneux has been hard at work since leaving Microsoft to form 22 Cans earlier this year. Although he has remained relatively quiet in recent months, the industry innovator has finally let slip a bit about the company’s upcoming project, coined the 22 Experiments, which could be ready for release in roughly six weeks.
“We’ve got 12 people [in the studio] now, and I’m trying to push this to 20 people as soon as possible,” Molyneux told BeefJack. “We’re directing all of our staff at the moment towards these things called 22 Experiments, which are 22 experiments that we will release digitally on the journey onto the final product that we’re going to make.”
Though he would give little concrete information, Molyneux did confirm that he expects the first of these experimental games to be released in “about six weeks”. He also expressed interest in both mobile and social platforms, though made it a point to clarify that 22 Cans isn’t averse to developing for consoles.
“Our whole passion [at 22 Cans] is to use some of the technology which is around in the world today in a single product and a single experience, in a way that no one else has used it,” Molyneux explained during his GaME12 talk earlier today. “I am fed up to the back teeth of consuming other people’s visions – Why can’t we have stories about me? I want to have my own unique experiences.”
