New details about Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 have been found after Pokémon news site Serebii.net translated announcements in CoroCoro, a Japanese magazine. The new Pokémon games will feature Pokéwood, yet another iteration on the Pokémon Contest. The Hollywood-themed sidequest will have players toy with motion capture (in-game only from the looks of it, the teasing jerks) to create short movies with their Pokémon. Screenshots tease a Godzilla-style battle between the player and a Mecha-Tyrannitar.
Another new feature is the Pokémon World Tournament. The game is set in Unova, a land supposedly very far away from the settings of the previous games. But, the Pokémon World Tournament brings in old gym leaders for the player to battle with. Confirmed opponents include Brock, Misty, Blaine, Lance, Giovanni, Blue, Volkner, Janine, Steven, and likely more. Also, even more trainers will be digitally distributed later on.
Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus, legendaries from the original Pokemon Black & White, will also be given new “Sacred Beast” forms. Their previous appearance has been retconned to be called the “Incarnation” form. The AR Searcher app is apparently tied into obtaining the new “Sacred Beast” forms.
Plotwise, a couple of things have changed in the world of Unova. N, the antagonist from the previous game, is mysteriously missing. Close to the beginning of the game, players will participate in a new mission with Alder, the wandering Elite Four champion. Cheren and Bianca, the player’s friends, have also found themselves in different places. Cheren is now the Normal-type gym leader, possibly replacing Gym Leader Lenora. Bianca will assist Professor Juniper in giving the player a starter Pokémon.
If that wasn’t a big enough Pokémon-themed info-dump for you, the Japanese TV show Pokémon Smash will be re-announcing this information on May 20th, potentially with footage and additional news.
