SEGA has confirmed that European and US CEO Mike Hayes will be stepping down from his position later this year.  His Euopean office will be handed over to current European COO Jurgen Post, while his office here in the States will be taken over by American COO Masanao Maeda.

Hayes began his tenure as a Managing Director at SEGA in 2004. He quickly made an impact at the company as one of the major players involved in SEGA’s shift from hardware maker to third party-publisher.

“Mike has achieved a huge amount during his time at Sega and we thank him for the amazing things he has accomplished,” said SEGA President and Representative Director Naoya Tsurumi. “He helped steer the extraordinary growth of Sega and has built an exceptional team of professionals that will stand us in good stead for the future.”

In the future, Hayes will be kept on in an advisory role at SEGA and has plans to take on both executive and non-executive positions throughout the industry.
