GAME Becomes Exclusive Retailer of Heroes of Ruin, Jacks Up Price

It seems like administration has been kind to UK games retailer GAME. They’ve recently started restocking EA made titles and struck a deal to exclusively sell Assassin’s Creed 3 Special Editions. Now they’ve got a deal with Square Enix to be the sole UK distributor of upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Heroes of Ruin, according to MCV. The game releases on June 15th, 2012 and can be preordered for £34.99 on GAME’s website.

That’s all well and good for GAME and I’m sure this will have a happy ending for everyone involved… except for the fact that GAME have also raised the price of the game a whole £10. Many retailers were offering the game at £29.95 and Play.com had it at a special £24.99 price. Now that GAME has exclusive distribution rights in the UK, it’s likely all these stores will have to discontinue sales of Heroes of Ruin or even refund all those who have already preordered the game.

Hey GAME – this is why I don’t like you.
