A slew of accidental image and detail leaks have pre-empted the formal announcement of the almost-inevitable Crysis 3.
The dam began to break with the early discovery on Neogaf of the front cover of the Swedish edition of Game Reactor magazine. User Sn4ke_911 spotted a hexagonal pattern and linked it to Crysis’ nano-suit, as well as scenes of a run-down urban area which suggest the new title’s setting.
Eurogamer.de, the German branch of Eurogamer, added the price of Crysis 3 Limited Edition, $49.99, by doing a German specific search on Origin. It also confirmed that the title would be released on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
Eurogamer.de later turned out some leaked box art for the title, oddly enough, by simply Googling it. The box art shows the player wielding an oddly non anachronistic compound bow, which may suggest an even greater focus on stealth this time around.
And lastly, and least reliably, Russian gaming site MadFanboy claims to have found the first details <http://www.madfanboy.com/site/pervye-podrobnosti-crysis-3> about the game. As hinted on Game Reactor’s magazine, MadFanboy claims the game will be set in a heavily destroyed New York. If this is true, it would neatly fuse the jungle setting of Crysis with the urban setting of Crysis 2. MadFanboy also says Crysis 3 will be officially revealed by Crytek on April 15, but gives no sources besides an image supposedly taken from the trailer on which someone has impolitely scribbed in Russian.
What does all this mean? Well besides the fact that confidentiality means jack in the gaming industry, it looks like Crytek listened to fan complaints and moved back towards a more visually interesting setting. Although, I don’t know who demanded that Crytek add a compound bow to the game. But I want to give that person a hug.

Anyway, unless Alcatraz has some way of speeding up the arrow’s flight speed, using a bow as a weapon just seems silly.
Tell that to the people using bows to hunt moose, elk, and grizzly bears. At better then 300 fps, with an impact force of more then 60 ft/lbs compound bows are extremely lethal, and extremely quiet. And at 60 -70 yards, you would have about .6 seconds to see and then react to the arrow, assuming you could see it.
Okay, but they don’t have super high tech exoskeletons that turn them into superhumans, either. I’m just saying Alcatrax could probably throw that arrow and have it be more effective.
It looks SOOOOOOO cheesy! I hope this is not true! Nanosuit and a BOW??? Maybe more futuristic weapons than those that shoot bullets, but a BOW??? Seriously??? Pandora??
