Capcom Waves Pre-Order “Bonus” Flag at Consumer Bull Again

Capcom announced on their Capcom Unity blog today that Resident Evil 6 would be receiving a pre-order bonus in the form of extra Mercenaries mode maps. That’s good. There will be three different maps, and each of them are exclusive to a single retailer. That’s bad.

The first map is Catacombs, a hallway filled map with plenty of tight quarters, a labyrinthine layout and a bevy of traps. It’s available only via preorder from Gamestop. High Seas Fortress is a large map that takes place on and inside an aircraft carrier. It’s Amazon only. Finally we have Rail Yard, which takes place exactly where you think it does. Best Buy gets this one.

There’s no word yet on if Capcom plans to release any of these maps later on down the line but if history is any indication, expect to be charged extra money for at least two maps you’re not able to get at all. Unless you like buying three of everything, that is.
