StarMerc

Blizzard has announced on their official StarCraft 2 blog that they are launching a World Championship tournament to find the single best StarCraft 2 player in the world that isn’t MVP.

Spanning across five continents (sorry Africa) and 28 countries (sorry Greenland), the World Championship tournament will take the best players from each country, pit them against the best players from their continent and, from there, a finals between the best players of each of those gigantic masses of dirt.

The full list of countries in the tournament so far are after the jump.

North America

Canada

Mexico

United States of America

South America

Argentina

Brazil

Chile

Peru

Players from these nations will be able to sign up for their local National Qualifiers. Winners of that will have an invitation to the National Championship, compete with travel expenses covered. And from there, the sky! Actually, no, the Continental Championships. Then the Global Championships to determine the single greatest StarCraft 2 player ever of the week. And then the sky! Maybe.

No word on prizes or, you know, when anything is yet but keep watching the skis. I mean skies. I mean StarCraft 2 blog. Dammit.
