Better dust off that karate outfit, because it looks like Billy and Jimmy Lee are making a comeback. Developer Wayforward Technologies has announced that they will be teaming up with Majesco to reboot the Double Dragon franchise with Double Dragon: Neon on the XBLA and PSN.
As you may have guessed by the name, the game is all about tacky 80′s excess. Loaded with bright colors and neon lights, Double Dragon: Neon’s environments are enough to make Don Johnson blush. Likewise can be said about the game’s music, which is filled with all the hair metal solos, synth, and electronic drums that any (in)sane person could want.
The meat of the game is similar to the classic Double Dragon side scrollers. Players will have to aid Billy and Jimmy in rescuing their perennial love interest Marian from the evil Skullmageddon. The main
gameplay is a mix of karate and weapons based combat, with the ability to perform basic combos and use weapons such as whips, hand grenades, and baseball bats.
Double Dragon: Neon is set to launch this summer. That should be enough time for you to pick up a pair of Ray-Bans off the internet and dig that Keytar out of the attic. (Because everyone had a
Keytar, right?)
