Junction Point Studios Confirms Epic Mickey 2

Way back when, in the days long forgotten (ie. August 2011), we mentioned that Junction Point Studios had a survey where you got to pick your favorite cover for a ‘hypothetical’ Epic Mickey 2 game. I use hypothetical because the game was not officially confirmed – everyone knew it eventually would be but they didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up in case something unforeseen were to happen. Well, your hopes can officially be set to 11 because Epic Mickey 2 is a thing and it’s coming out this year.

This next iteration of Epic Mickey, subtitled “The Power of Two,” won’t be a Wii-exclusive this time around as it, branching out to the Xbox 360 as well as PlayStation 3. Junction Point Studios has also said they will be fixing the camera issues that plagued the original, as well as feature drop in/out co-op play and will even make Epic Mickey 2 fully-voice acted, with voice-acting legend Frank Welker providing the voice of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit who is Mickey’s brother… for some reason.

The biggest surprise is that Epic Mickey 2 will focus on being an actual musical. It seems like a stretch but then again, this is Disney we’re talking about. While all of the rough-and-tough men reading this article may groan with displeasure, I’m willing to bet there are at least three elaborate Disney musicals you still remember, so don’t complain to me.

Given the subtitle, the math nerd in me really hopes they place the two above “Mickey” and shrink it to the proper size of an exponential…yes, I’m a nerd and I know they won’t do that. And yes, I’ll be playing this with my Rock Band microphone next to me in hopes of using it and yes, I need to get out more.
