Piki Geek TiG: March 20, 2012

+

I-Am-Alive

Welcome to the first Piki Geek TiG! What’s that, you ask? The TiG, or Today in Gaming, is a rundown of all the news that we didn’t cover.

Now, wait a second – why aren’t we directly covering these stories?

The answer is simple: we’re embracing our name! Piki Geek was never supposed to be a one-stop shop for gaming news. Rather, it was supposed to be a hub for outstanding feature, preview, and review content with the day’s most important news stories thrown in.

At the same time, however, we understand that it sucks to have to dig through a billion-thousand sites to find good gaming news – so we’re doing that for you. At the end of every day on Piki Geek, we’ll be throwing out a TiG to link to our other gaming friends so you could catch everything we didn’t think was necessarily newsworthy.

Sounds good? Awesome. Now hit the break and be amazed.

Ubisoft announced the release date for I Am Alive, which will be hitting PSN on April 4. It’ll retail for $14.99 – and it even has a bonus iOS app! Check it out over on Joystiq.

Rock Paper Shotgun has a 30 minute preview up of The Secret World. For those not in the know, The Secret World is an MMO based around conspiracy theories, your crazy uncle, and the occult.

The Amazing Spider-Man has a bunch of new screenshots, not to mention a cool video. If spiders, red spandex, and superhero games are all your though, you probably should check it out.

Some crazy zombie thing you might’ve heard of called Dawn of the Walking Dead now has a few trailers. It’s made by Telltale. Zombies. Cool, I guess. If you’re into dead things, or something.

Like video game music but can’t afford a cross-country trek? Video Games Live is splintering off into smaller venues. Sign up for the mailing list and it might just come to YOUR town!

Dungeons & Dragons is getting the classic druid class added to the game, according to recently revealed concept art. If you can’t shoot bees out of your mouth like the pen and paper game, I’ll be disappointed.

A new Star Wars: The Old Republic free to play weekend is coming up starting March 22nd, but only if you’ve never participated in the trial yet. Everybody gets one.

However, is Azeroth is more your thing, RipTen has posted a series of trailers showing off the beautiful new locales of Pandaria, including looks at the newly re-created classic dungeons Scarlet Monastery and Scholomance.

The new version of Dragon’s Lair will reportedly feature Kinect support, letting you opt to control Dirk the Daring with gesture-based inputs instead of a controller. In other words, he’s going to die a lot more.

And what would a day of news be without everyone’s favorite exaggerator? Eurogamer’s got a preview of Fable: The Journey full of the sort of quotable Molyneux insanity you’ve come to expect from the recently-departed Lionhead frontman.
