Gamerzine received a tip today that the storied Shenmue series will see an HD re-release after all, despite Sega being tight-lipped on the matter. Interestingly, the anonymous tipster claims that the game has been complete for “well over a year” now and the reason for delay was to the future of the series. Hopefully this means that there the long awaited Shenmue 3 will finally end up getting made.
Rumours of Shenmue’s HD re-release have been around since 2010 when a user named Xbox360Leaker released screenshots of a Partnernet Xbox 360 Dashboard showing the game on the system. He was already proven true after Jet Set Radio’s HD re-release was revealed last week, something which he also revealed two years ago.
There’s a very good chance this information could be legitimate, especially after Ben Harborne, a brand manager for SEGA, teased the possibility of the HD pack’s existence.
