Were you outraged when you heard that the PS Vita “exclusive” characters for Street Fighter X Tekken were located on the 360/PS3 discs as locked DLC? Well, Capcom has issued a defense in response to the outcry and, to be perfectly honest, a lot of it makes sense.
According to Online community manager Brett Elston, by including the data for the DLC characters on the retail disc, Capcom is hoping to avoid compatibility issues among players who buy the DLC and those who don’t as this was a problem for the Street Fighter 4 costumes.
By including these 12 characters on the disc, the idea was to ensure easy compatibility between players who do and do not choose to download the characters when they arrive as DLC. For example, not buying costumes in the Street Fighter IV series means you will not see the costumes when playing another person who did buy them; on-disc characters avoid this issue and allow everyone to participate in the update without additional patches or hiccups. The update also saves on file size – instead of a massive download, there will be a much smaller unlock that brings the new content to the surface.
Elston commented further on how this will allow them to avoid a “super ultra magnificent arcade game of the year edition.” While I’m sure there will be a super edition of the game, this is a smart move on Capcom’s part as one of the major complaints about Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was that it forced players to buy the disc rather than offering smaller DLC packs.
This move also furthers our desire to avoid a ‘Super’ version of the game down the road. Everything you need to enjoy this game for months (and years) to come will be accessed by the retail disc available this week. When the DLC update does come, it will inject new life and excitement into the game by unleashing 12 new fighters into the wild.
At the moment, there are no details regarding pricing or dates but there will be 12 additional fighters available sometime after the game’s Vita release on March 31st. The six Street Fighter characters include Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy and Sakura and the six Tekken characters include Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack, Lars Alexandersson and Lei Wulong will all be available.”
Street Fighter X Tekken was release on March 6th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a slated release of March 31st for the PlayStation Vita.

No matter what people say the DLC will still be lock till realease date.
According to my calculations I will have pay 112.40 by the time they release the DLC. If you want the full game that’s what you have to pay this days. I don’t even plan to play the game that much. Let see if I still interested on playing the game by the time they release the 12 new characters.
