Square Enix has released screenshots for their upcoming 3DS RPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, and boy are they absolutely gorgeous. The screens mainly show off gameplay environments and if we didn’t know any better, we’d swear that we were looking at concept art.
Earlier this week, the company released the first in a series of demos for the game via the Nintendo eShop. Little is known about the game, which is being directed by Takashi Tokita of Parasite Eve and Chrono Trigger fame. The rest of the Bravely Default team boasts an equally impressive resume, with Tomoya Asano (Final Fantasy III, IV remakes, Grandia Extreme) acting as producer and Akihiko Yoshida (Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story) working as art director and character designer.
Thanks to Asano, we do know that the game will be a “standard RPG” with job and battle systems similar to Final Fantasy V, complete with turn-based battles and random encounters. Bravely Default will also make use of the 3DS’ Augmented Reality components, with a demo at TGS showing off an AR sequence where one of the game’s characters pleads for help from players before being swallowed up into a crack in the floor.
You can go ahead and venture through the break for the rest of the screens.
