All Games Beta seems to be on a winning streak recently, first getting those 170 supposed Doom 4 screenshots up and now they’ve managed to get a hold of leaked screenshots for the just revealed Assassin’s Creed 3.
So let’s all examine them and speculate baselessly!
The screens say quite a bit about the game already. We’ve got this one in the header showing the usual interaction with the townsfolk and guards in the city, except with a colonial American town, of course.
The second is out of the norm, with the as-of-yet unknown protagonist stalking a moose or reindeer with a bow or arrow, presumably to piss off future-Canadians or Santa. Or maybe because collecting pelts will be a side-quest of sorts, though I prefer the former myself.
The third seem to show the scant few seconds before an assassination on someone adopting the Napoleonic pose. Will the tomahawk be replacing the hidden blade? Probably not but it would be pretty fun anyway.
The fourth is perhaps the most interesting. The protagonist spies on a troop of Redcoat soldiers as they make their way through a forest. Perhaps this marks a return of the stealth elements that was supposed to be in the first game. After all, it’s not quite the same as facing down a dozen sword-wielding guards as it is a dozen rifle-wielding soldiers. The latter tend to have an easier time killing people what with the pulls of fingers rather than the swing of an arm.
Another potential bit of interest is in the colors on the robes. Yesterday’s Game Informer reveal had the protagonist wearing red on the bottom of his cloak but, in these screens, he’s wearing blue. Given that this is the Revolutionary War period and given that red and blue were the two colors of either side, this might just have more than meets the eye.
