EA Product Manager Will Graham talked to MCV today about how well the Mass Effect 3 preorder numbers were going. Apparently, internal preorder targets were broken already, with Mass Effect 3’s numbers climbing above the prior title in the series.
A lot of credit is given to the marketing behind the game, even if it flopped a little, along with a few other missteps. Interestingly, this is what Graham says pulls in current Mass Effect fans to the new game:
For the core Mass Effect fan, we’ve been building on the immersive nature of the game with a host of trailers, social media activity and fan site activation.
So, Mass Effect fans, how many of you have been immersed in Mass Effect’s galaxy by living through trailers, GPS tweets, and fan sites? Have you been petitioning to the UK government to release all their information about aliens too (even if they already do that)?
Or maybe you’re all just getting Mass Effect 3 because you liked the first two games. Nah, couldn’t be.
