When I first saw the title and trailer for ORION: Dino Beatdown, I had no idea what to think, as it was either one of the dumbest or most brilliant games to ever come out. While my current self was sitting there confused, my inner child let loose a squeal of delight.
A few moments later and this was my reaction. Lets all be honest here – when you were a kid, one of your biggest fantasies involved dinosaurs, lasers, and jetpacks.
Check the trailer out after the break.
Dino Beatdown is the result of a Kickstarter collaboration between the developers of such games as BioShock, Ghost Recon, Unreal Tournament, Forza Motorsport, Jade Empire, Halo, Borderlands and Mortal Kombat, just to name a few.
The game will basically be a co-op survival game where you and four other teammates must team up and fight waves of dinosaurs. It will also feature a class system that allows you to upgrade and customize your load-out. While nothing was shown in the trailer, it’s safe to assume that you will have your basic classes like soldier, medic, sniper, etc. The weapons look like standard fare, but I’m sure the arsenal will feature a few futuristic weapons. My only real gripe is that the game’s HUD looks horrendous. Here’s hoping that you will be able to customize it in the final product.
The game is set to be released on Steam and OnLive sometime next month for $9.99.

Wait, this is just horde mode now? Wasn’t this supposed to be a mixed-arms style battlefield game? What the hell happened?
I hope it’s not as bad as Dino D-Day.
