Despite fears that it would flop, Rayman: Origins has been a success. Speaking in a conference call with investors this morning, Ubisoft revealed that the game has been profitable and that they feel it “has the capacity to become a long-term seller for the company.”
Things were looking pretty grim for our favorite limbless protagonist when the game moved just 50,000 copies in its first month. Many blamed the game’s $60 price tag, saying that it felt more akin to an Xbox Live Arcade title than a full game. Apparently, however, sales picked up in a big way – enough for the title to turn it around completely.
Rayman: Origins is bound to sell a few more copies with impending releases in the near future. The game is set to launch for the 3DS on March 20 and the PC on March 30.

Good to hear great sales for this game. Rayman Origins, I’ll be honest: The game is not bad, but could be a little bit better. If there was a choice between this game and Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, I’d recommend the latter.
