Darkstalkers fans who have long been waiting for a new game in the series may have seen a glimmer of hope on the horizon. It appears that Capcom has registered a new Darkstalkers trademark in Japan and Europe.
With Street Fighter X Tekken releasing in less than a month, Capcom’s fighting game mafioso Yoshinori Ono should be free to devote his time to a new title. Ono has expressed interest in reviving the Darkstalkers franchise in the past, assuring fans at least year’s Street Fighter X Tekken panel that the series is “not dead”.
The Darkstalkers franchise hasn’t seen a new release since Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection came out on the PS2 way back in March 2005. Fans eager for some mummy-smashing, Red Riding Hood-shooting action have had to be content with the occasional re-release, including a PSN release of the first Darkstalkers game this past November.
Honestly, the lack of any new games in the series is baffling. I mean, who wouldn’t want a new fighting game featuring Little Red Riding Hood armed to the teeth?

anime style games will never again sell in the US, why? because it literally hasn’t changed since Gigantor and Marine Boy in the 60′s and once you get past age 11, it loses whatever luster and exuberance it might of had before typical boys testicles descend and realize it’s supremely annoying to look at and more annoying to listen to. Japanese language also translates to English with all the excitement and energy of listening to Stephen Wright read War and Peace out loud. Sure a few adults like it, but we all know who they are… convention weirdoes and budding serial killers…. Pass… as I’m sure 96% 0f the US gaming population will.
