Skullgirls Trailer Introduces Wacky Backstory

In the latest trailer released for Skullgirls, we see the that Reverge Labs is trying to do the impossible: inject a story mode into a fighting game. We’ve seen this attempted a number of times before with various levels of success. Perhaps the cast of deformed, lovely, and quirky ladies actually lends itself to a riveting story that also has a meaningful explanation for why Ms. Fortune uses her head as a weapon?

From the trailer we’ve deduced that there’s such a thing as a Skull Heart that can help someone get their memory back and that another one of the girls might be a mercenary for hire. Oh, also, there’s a doctor who is also a bird. Intriguing, no? Skullgirls is set to be out in early 2012 on PSN and XBLA.
