PlayStation.Blog has uploaded some up-close footage of the PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat. The game contains all the features of last year’s remake, with the addition of at least one touch-sensitive element. As the combat gets visceral, the screen begins to become coated in blood, which can then be wiped away by the player.
Though the video focuses solely on unexplained game footage, it’s likely that the wipe-away-the-blood mechanic may be relegated to the infamous tower mode and not impact the main game. An interview with Ed Boon at the PlayStation.Blog explained that there would be two additional tower modes with unique elements that would make use of the Vita’s special features, including the Sixaxis and front touch screen.
Boon also claims that the Vita version will run in 60fps, just like the PlayStation 3 edition. In the video below, you can see classic characters in action, as well as the bonus Freddy Krueger and Kratos. The Vita version will have all the DLC characters that have currently been released.
Mortal Kombat for the Vita is set for launch sometime this spring.
