Nintendo’s annual money harvest seems to be running right on schedule. Super Mario 3D Land has become the first 3DS game to sell over five million copies, with the game reaching 5.03 million copies sold globally.
Other 3DS games are faring well, with Mario Kart 7 selling 5.54 million units worldwide and Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D moving 2.49 million. Though good, 3DS game sales are still a long way away from catching up to that of the original Nintendo DS.
Both Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. have each sold well over 20 million units in their lifetimes. It looks like Mario has some work to do if he plans on recreating the glory of days gone by.
