“Not all of the current console makers will have one more generation. That will be the big news at E3.” Those are the sentiments given by one Nanea Reeves, Gaikai’s chief product officer, while speaking on a panel at CES. What makes her feel this way? Well, she didn’t exactly elaborate.
But hang on just a minute. It’s almost as if Gaikai, who focuses on streaming games technology, has a competing product they’re set to unveil which would benefit greatly from one less console on the market! It’s like she had some kind of ulterior motive for making such statements. Clever girl, Ms. (Mrs?) Reeves.
With the WiiU already announced, that means it would either be Sony or Microsoft opting out of the next generation cycle, if Reeves’ prediction holds any weight at all. In any case, it seems highly unlikely, as rumors have been floating around for a while now that both of the console giants are already working with game devs on their new hardware. Only time will tell, though, so let’s bring on E3 and put all these rumors to rest.
