Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that he’s working on a new, original title for Nintendo, in addition to Pikmin 3 for the Wii U and Luigi’s Mansion for the 3DS.
In October of last year, Nintendo’s president Satoro Iwata stated that it was his company’s goal to continue making new games and new genres with plans to release some of these games in 2012.
Speaking to zoom.in, however, Miyamoto stated that he is not feeling too much pressure, even though people have come to expect a lot from him. He noted, “I’m enjoying myself. But when I make something, I always try to do my best.”
The new title is as yet undisclosed. Maybe we’ll know something about it when E3 rolls around in June. He did note, however, that photorealistic graphics were not something he was interested in, declaring, “I personally want to make something really different.”
Miyamoto also addressed rumors that he was planning to retire soon:
I really appreciate all the kindness given the kind of comments that I made. But to be clear, I have no intention to retire at all. I’m not old enough to think about retirement right now. But everyone has to retire at some point. I wanted to make clear that we are preparing for that.
