Anarchy Reigns, the upcoming multiplayer brawler from Platinum Games, will not be making its intended January 2012 release date. Whereas that date was never really set in stone, the new date – July 3rd, 2012 in the US, July 5th in Australia, and July 6th in Europe – seems solid.
Sega’s SVP of marketing, Gary Knight, commented on the delay, saying “Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we’ve decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch. I can’t reveal much now, but it’s something to do with scale. Let’s just say traditional one on one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past…”
Could this mean they’re expanding the number of players per match? During my hands-on time with Anarchy Reigns at E3, it seemed like the game would already be allowing up to eight players per match. The more the merrier though, right?
