Taking the 3DS one nub closer to the PS3 is the Circle Pad Pro add-on, which will apparently only be available through GameStop. The peripheral will run you $20 and functions as a second thumb-stick for your right hand with the power of a single AAA battery. You’ll be able to get your ambidextrous action on when the device is exclusively released in GameStop stores on February 7th.
Being concerned over both your handheld’s internal battery-life and the Circle Pad’s single battery at the same time does sound a bit annoying. Reports indicate that the device will apparently run for 480 hours, however, so perhaps you can let others things worry you. Like where you’ll fit the now rather bulky device.
Why even bother with the additional tech? Well, you can use it to enhance your experience with new Monster Hunter 3G, Resident Evil Revelations, and Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D. If those games are on your radar, it may be worth looking into for a wider range of control options. If they aren’t, you can just go ahead and call this one the modern day Rumble Pack.
