Mass Effect 3 VGA Trailer Puts its Finger in My Thresher (Maw)

Mass Effect 3 is still four months away, but if the trailer debuted at the VGAs last night is any indication, it’s got quite a bit of flair and polish already. The latest footage shows Shepard and Garrus sprinting their way toward a rampaging  Reaper, complete with explosions, chunks of debris, and an overall sense of just how large Reapers actually are.

Just when all seems lost, help arrives from an unlikely source: a hungry, pissed off Thresher Maw. Fans of the series will recognize thresher maws as those giant, subterranean dick worms that attack you from time to time during vehicular gameplay sections. Fortunately, this one has its eyes on a bigger prize, and proceeds to tear into the attacking Reaper.

The battle is, of course, every bit as epic as it sounds. I know I can hardly wait until March 6th, 2012, to see how it all plays out. In the meantime, head past the break for the full trailer.
