I’ve been a fan of the entire Command and Conquer franchise for well over a decade, and I always thought that C&C Generals was unfairly ignored by most without much reason. It lacked the rightfully-beloved cheesy dialogue and real time videos but for an RTS, the gameplay was incredibly solid. Well, it has taken a lot longer than I had hoped but Generals is finally getting a sequel, and a teaser was shown at last night at Spike’s VGA.
Generals 2 will be published by the newly formed BioWare Victory, a renaming of the studio that has overseen the Command & Conquer franchise in the past. BioWare Victory is headed by Jon Van Canegham who has been with EA and the C&C franchise since 2009. He is best known for founding New World Computing in 1983 and is often credited with the creation of Heroes of Might and Magic, Might and Magic and the King’s Bounty series.
Command & Conquer Generals 2 will be a PC release only (as it should be) and will be running on Frostbyte 2, the engine for EA’s critically acclaimed Battlefield 3. According to the trailer, the title will release in 2013, a full decade after the original was released. Check it out for yourself after the break.
