Want to own a piece of unreleased gaming history and support charity all at the same time? Game Informer is reporting that the notorious game Desert Bus is being released for both iTunes and the Android Marketplace. The best part is that all of the raised proceeds go directly to the Child’s Play charity.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Desert Bus was part of an unreleased collection of games called Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors for the Sega CD that served as a response to criticisms of violent video games. Players control a bus and are tasked with driving from Tucson to Las Vegas in real time. Best of all, your bus veers slightly to the right, meaning you have to pay attention the entire time. Completing the 8-hour trek scores you one point.
Desert Bus earned a significant amount of notoriety when the charity Desert Bus for Hope began streaming marathon playing sessions of the horrendously boring game in order to earn donations.
So if you’ve got a buck to spare and a mobile phone, why not own this curious piece of gaming arcana? Besides, nothing passes the time on a long road trip like taking a virtual road trip in the palm of your hands!
