Breathe a sigh of relief, Luigi fans. Mario’s often-overshadowed brother will make an appearance in Super Mario 3D Land. Luigi will get his own special “bonus” stages, as well as the ability to jump higher than Mario.
Super Mario 3D Land has a few other surprises in store, including the return of Mario’s flying raccoon (fine, tanooki) suit and a few moves borrowed from Solid Snake himself. Unlike its ‘coony doppelganger in Super Mario Bros. 3, the tanooki suit won’t allow Mario to fly anymore. Instead, it will turn him into a statue, causing enemies to ignore the husky plumber while he’s stoned. Coin cubes are now more than just a source for easy cash, as the famous question mark, or “hatena”, boxes can be hidden under for some quick cover.
You can try out Mario’s new perks or revel in the return of his brother on November 13th, when the game launches in North America.
