Minecraft Exclusive to Xbox 360, Arrives Spring

After the unexpected announcement that Minecraft was destined for the console world, excitement surged despite a complete lack of confirmed knowledge of when or where it would end up. Well, now we know for sure. Minecraft will be an exclusive for Xbox Live Arcade and will arrive sometime during spring of next year.

Until then, you won’t have to spend your winter hours chipping solemnly at blocks. Minecon, the Minecraft specific convention, is coming up on November 18-19 in Las Vegas and will be a haven for those that love all things blocky and pig-riding.

Attendees won’t just be privy to what I imagine will be some pretty phenomenal exclusive toys, posters, and the like, as Mojang announced that they will be showcasing the first look at the Xbox version of the game. Microsoft will be teaming up with the company for a big presentation and reveal.

From the announcement on their official website:

Minecraft for Xbox 360 is currently in heavy development and we are very happy with the progress. Daniel is working tightly with the 4J team to coordinate Notch’s design decisions. We want to keep the core experience of the original PC version intact, while ensuring the game fits its new platform.

They won’t release minecraft on the 360 until there is evidence that there is high interest in it. Most players who play minecraft will not download it for the 360 because the pc version is more dynamic and therefore they need new interest from the pool of people that normally don’t play this style of game.

    That’s what I think.

the fact that comment lists such as this are mostly blank are testament to a lack of interest in the xbox version that may make the game un-viable.
