London Philharmonic Does Video Game Music

+

London Philharmonic

The London Philharmonic has been doing a fun and entertaining concert series with our favorite video game music. Called the “Greatest Video Game Music”, the album of this series will contain music from Angry Birds to Grand Theft Auto when it releases on November 8th.

Some of the music choices are a bit interesting – to say the least – but the classics are there. Mario and Zelda tunes are accompanied by Tetris, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear Solid. While those tracks sound quite different from their musical grandfathers, others are as faithful as possible, while still adding a bit of flair. Bioshock and Call of Duty already have rather symphonic-sounding music, but the previews available on the iTunes Store prove the orchestra’s talent at bringing new life to great songs.

True to video game releases, those who pre-purchase from Amazon get a bonus track from Dead Space, while the iTunes pre-purchase comes with a song from Final Fantasy XIII instead. It sure is wonderful to see content restrictions based on retailer, no? In any case, you can choose your poison and get ready for some excellent music.
