A yellow flag might be dropped for the community of Microsoft’s new critically acclaimed driving simulator. Eurogamer has reported that fans of Turn 10’s Forza 4 are claiming that a number of Xbox Live accounts have been mysteriously banned from the playing the game, leading to an outcry for explanation.

There has been no official explanation for the recent string of bans, but that hasn’t stopped players from coming up with their own theories. The most prevalent one on the Forza 4 forums seems to resolve around the buying and selling of in-game credits – used to purchase cars and other elements within the game – for real world money. It is speculated that Microsoft has been banning accounts that are believed to have engaged in this practice.

Turn 10’s community manager, Brian Ekberg, has posted on the forums claiming the team is investigating the issue, but the wording of his response seems to indicate that piracy might be the issue:

We are investigating claims from a select group of Forza 4 players who believe they have been unfairly banned from Xbox LIVE. We take piracy issues very seriously and will be investigating this matter case by case. If we find accounts that have been banned in error, we will reinstate them.

We’ll bring you more on this situation as it develops.
