Street Fighter x Tekken Release Date Announced, Special Edition Revealed

Fighting fans gearing themselves up for another high-powered crossover should get their calendars ready and put a nice big mark on March 6th, 2012, as Capcom has announced that Street Fighter x Tekken will launch on this day in North America. If you’re in Europe, simply slide your pen a little bit over to the right – you’ll get the game March 9th.

In addition to the release date announcement, Capcom Unity revealed information about the game’s special edition, which is predictably full of nice goodies. In addition to the game, you’ll score a collectible standee which folds out into a cool looking 5” tall arcade cabinet as well as a prequel comic book from Udon.

More useful, however, is an assortment 45 in-game “gems” to use with the game’s new character-customizing gem system. These gems can be used to enhance different properties of your selected character, and the collector’s edition will contain all gems available in various pre-order packs as well as 9 exclusive to the edition itself.

Street Fighter x Tekken will launch for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with PC and PS Vita versions in development for later release.
