At this point, it’s no longer a question of if a AAA-PC title will be leaked, but a question of when. So, it should come as a surprise to no one that Battlefield 3, EA’s highly anticipated shooter, has suffered the same fate.
As cited by multiple sources, a 10-gigabyte Russian installation torrent is available for Battlefield 3. Despite being a Russian version, it has been confirmed that the single player campaign is fully playable without any issues. There are no reports (at this time) of the leak featuring functional multiplayer, as that requires a valid Origin account. Right now, the PC version is the only known leak. Consoles are safe for the time being.
While the details are unclear about how the game got leaked, this is a cause for concern as the game will not be officially released for another week and a half. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with any further news regarding this issue. In the meantime, if you plan on playing this game, we fully encourage you to support DICE and EA by purchasing a legit copy.
Battlefield 3 will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 25th
